Company Profile

Merchants Sales Company was founded in 1971 by Ed Preston and Dave Evans as a professional sales and marketing company of food service disposable products. Our Goals as a company remain fairly simple… to provide the highest possible degree of professionalism and the very best marketing value for our manufacturers’ dollars. To that end, Our Vision is… to package and market the products and resources of non-competitive, synergistic manufacturers in a manner that creates a new, more valuable supply resource for both user and distributor customers. To utilize the combined knowledge, technology, research, information, support and other resources of our own organization and manufacturing clients, creating a marketing and supply resource for users, distributors and manufacturers more valuable than could be achieved by using resources independently.

Merchants Sales’ corporate office is located in Greensboro, North Carolina which is centrally located in our marketing area. The office is technologically advanced, with a networked computer system utilizing industry specific custom software for order entry (EDI capable), sales tracking, price management, end-user database, etc. Additionally we utilize internal e-mail, and all of our sales associates utilize pagers, cell phones, and either laptop or office based PC’s complete with Remote User Access. In addition to the corporate office we have sales offices located in the Baltimore/Washington market and the eastern North Carolina market.

The strength of Merchants Sales, like any sales and marketing company, is our people. We are fortunate to have sixteen professional, talented, creative, and highly motivated salespeople. Much of Merchants Sales’ success is based on the efforts of our salespeople at the "End User" level, where we strive to command a high degree of respect from our Distributor partners by influencing the ultimate customer. In addition to our commitment to the user level, we strive to develop strong relationships with the Distribution community and our customer service people are tremendous assets in furthering this partnership.
